Poppy Jasper and Silver Overlay Shadowbox Pendant
This hollow form pendant is made of hand-punched fine silver with fine silver overlay and Guadalupe Poppy Jasper.
Poppy Jasper gets it’s name from orbicular patterns resembling poppies. This piece has bursts of golds and green surrounded by reds and deep brown.
Gorgeous, deep color.
Overlay is a traditional Native American technique often found in Hopi and Navajo jewelry designs.
Guadalupe poppy jasper is from New Almaden, California. The mine it comes from is now closed and this variety of poppy jasper is considered extinct. This stone was mined at least 3o years ago. It is a collectible and only exists in private stashes. Very rare.
This piece is 2 1/2 inches long by 3/4 inches wide at the widest point and 1/4 inch deep. Absolutely one-of-kind hollow form piece, from the stone to the cut-out design on the front. Signed on the back ~ Matagi Sorensen.
