2013 in review – Thanks for a Great Year!

ring (c) Holly Troy2013 was a great year. I had some evolutionary leaps in my creative process and am excited to see where next year takes me.

I also had some firsts last year. I showed at The Heard Museum in Phoenix, the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, the Natural History Museum of Utah in Salt Lake City, and at the Autry Museum in Los Angeles. All of the shows were juried.

I also proudly donated a piece for the 18th Annual Night for life Gala, a fundraising event for the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS.

One of the most exciting things for me was traveling to Holland and speaking at the Netherlands Association for North American Indians (NANAI) 40th Anniversary Celebration. I spoke about my life and work, Yavapai-Apache history, and gave a metals demonstration.

In 2010, Leo Van Kints of President of NANAI and Jan Ketelaars, Dutch film maker, came to the United States to make a documentary film called On the Same Ground about modern North American Indians. They spent four days filming and interviewing my family and me in northern Arizona. Parts of the film where I was featured were finished this year, and it looks like they are intending to finish interviewing and editing in 2014.

Looking forward to seeing you in the year to come!

Happy New Year! All the best for health, love, abundance, creativity, and happiness!

Thank you for reading.

Below is the 2013 Report from WordPress.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 12,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Pueblo Grande Museum Indian Market – this weekend!

Pueblo Grand Museum Indian Market logoI’ll be exhibiting at the Indian Market this weekend! Juried show! Find unique pieces for the holidays. Visit me and check out my new work.

I was at this show last year, and the site is beautiful. There is something relaxing about the desert this time of year. The light and the colors are soft, and they shift throughout the day. The earth is almost a golden wheat color, with shades of pinks and purples and deep oranges that shift throughout the day.

The Pueblo Grande Museum Auxiliary is proud to host the 37th Annual Indian Market on December 14 & 15, 2013. The market will offer an array of activities for children and adults, including exceptional American Indian Music and dance, a variety of native foods, sweet and savory fry bread, other treats and authentic American Indian fine art, collectibles and cultural exhibits. A perfect place for last minute holiday shopping.

Pueblo Grand Museum Kick-Off EventA new feature has been added to this year’s market, Ki:him – community village where cultural demonstrations and presentations will take place, providing guests with hands on access to everyday activities past and present and opportunities to interact and learn about the culture through storytelling, music, song, dance, games and native foods. Ki:him is the O’odham word for community village. While representatives of the four Southern communities of the O’odham people, descendants of the ancient Hohokam will be participating in the Ki:him, there will also be artists and representatives from various other tribes participating in the community village as well.

Come to the 37th Annual Pueblo Grande Museum Indian Market it’s a perfect place for last minute holiday shopping and a great opportunity to learn more about American Indian history and culture, past and present.
