Something Blue: Silver and Mokume Wedding Rings with Sapphire and Aquamarine

Something Blue: Silver and Mokume Wedding Rings with Sapphire and Aquamarine

These wedding rings are made of blackened silver with mokume overlay with set stones: one is faceted aquamarine the other is faceted sapphire.

These handset, hand-crafted rings are one-of-a-kind. The mokume overlay are reminiscent of the earth here in the southwest, the blackened silver like river canyons cutting into the red rock. The mokume is left raw, so that over time, as the copper matures, it’s color will deepen.

The insides of the rings have beveled edges for a comfort fit, while the tops of the edges are flat, so that they stack nicely.

Key to the Town: Green Box Arts Festival

Key to the Town: Greenbox Arts Festival

It’s getting to be that time of year for the Green Box Arts Festival held in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado.

Last year, I was asked to create keys to the city of Green Mountain Falls, Colorado, to be presented to honored artists at the Green Box Arts Festival. Wildfires shut down the festival last year, but this year all systems are go. Christian Keesee, founder and promoter talks about this year’s festival in the Denver Post.

I worked with artist Holly Troy to design the keys and we created this unique art piece. The keys are cast in bronze and then are hand-hammered and highly polished, giving each key a unique surface texture. The come with a bronze chain and a medallion naming the recipient of the key and the year. The keys are approximately nine inches long by three inches wide.

This was an amazing project, and it is really exciting that my work will be used over the next several years.

Mountain’s Majesty – Mokume and Silver Wedding Rings

Mountain’s Majesty – Mokume and Silver Wedding Rings

Brushed silver and copper mokume combine with silver overlay and blackened silver to create rings that celebrate the beauty of the mountains here in the southwest. The copper is left raw and will deepen in color with age, just like the wild beauty of this part of the world.

I love that the mokume can either represent the layers of earth in the mountains, or can represent the swirling of the wind in the sky.

These rings are commissioned. They are one-of-a-kind, entirely hand-crafted, and are signed on the inside.

Something Old, Something New . . . Wedding Ring: Hand-carved Silver, White Gold, Diamond and Sapphires

Wedding Ring: Hand-carved Silver, White Gold, Diamond and Sapphires

This ring is a commission based off of my signature hand-carved silver ring designs, especially Neptune Rising and Shiva’s Flame. The gems are set in white gold and the ring is hand-carved blackened silver.

The bride-to-be repurposed the gems from her grandmother’s wedding ring. Delicate sapphires and a crystal clear diamond set in a very modern and organic, earthy band make for an intriguing juxtaposition of style.

One-of-a-kind and very special. Breathtaking!
