This Weekend! American Indian Arts 2013 Marketplace at the Autry: Juried Show

The American Indian Arts Marketplace is a high end art festival featuring over 40 tribes represented by 180 artists. It is Southern California’s largest Native American art market. This is a juried exhibition.

From the American Indian Arts Marketplace Overview:

This year, in recognition of the Autry’s 25th anniversary exhibition Art of the West, the Marketplace explores themes of contemporary Native American art in all its iterations, while still honoring traditional roots.

“The Marketplace attracts people who are interested in Native art beyond the museum collections. They’re interested in your work but they’re also interested in you, and in supporting a sense of community. That mindset is at the core of Native art shows like the Autry’s,” said Mateo Romero, a Marketplace artist whose mixed-media piece War Music II is part of the Autry’s permanent collection and featured in Art of the West.
